The Snake Saturday parade and festivities once again turned the streets of NKC green.
North Kansas City leprechauns were eager to don their green and show their Irish spirit when the Snake Saturday Parade returned on March 12 after a two-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although this year's theme was Lucky to Be in NKC, festival-goers did not benefit from the luck of the Irish in terms of the weather. Still, the wintry temperatures did not deter plans, and parade sponsor Country Club Bank was well-represented during the festivities.
Numerous charities participate in the parade to raise awareness and to earn the prize money sponsors provide. Since the parade's inception 37 years ago, nearly $2 million has been awarded to various charities.
The weekend of events included a Charity Cook-Off, a Grand Marshal Celebration and a Lad and Lassie contest for children ages 2-7. The post-parade festival featured a carnival, petting zoo, race car show and other activities.
