Team Impact volunteers spend an afternoon working alongside young adults with developmental disabilities who are learning job skills.
Team CCB volunteers from across the metro area gathered at PawsAbilities in Olathe on May 24 to sew, sort, bake, cut, create and decorate with some paw-some young adults who run the retail store.
PawsAbilities is a skills and job training program for young adults with developmental disabilities. Through the PawsAbilities employment project, the nonprofit organization fosters independence, self-advocacy, and community involvement.
The young adults at PawsAbilities serve handcrafted all-natural dog treats, sew dog bandanas, and recycle t-shirts into pull toys. Students also work in the retail and mobile stores, where they learn customer service skills.
In addition to operating their own retail store, PawsAbilities sells products through several veterinary clinics, pet stores, doggie day cares and gift shops throughout the Midwest.
