Enjoy the work of acrylic painter Maggie Stubbs in the BGT Lobby at 1 Ward Parkway.
The abstract paintings of 31-year-old Maggie Stubbs, this quarter’s featured artist, mimic patterns found in nature. Maggie hides birds and other creatures within the sprays of color, so you can view the paintings multiple times, discovering new elements with each visit. She even includes some familiar cityscapes and landmarks to add interest.
You’ll find her acrylic paintings on canvas in the BGT lobby through the summer.
Maggie, who was born and raised in Kansas, has been creating art her entire life and has been exhibiting her work with ArtsKC for the past 10 years. She also does commissioned paintings for individuals and businesses.
In addition to her painting, Maggie taught kindergarten in the Kansas City, Kansas, public schools for three years. She also taught English as a second language while living in Thailand. Her family owns a feed manufacturing business in Bonner Springs, Kansas, with a store that has been in the family for more than 100 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in business administration, both from the University of Kansas.
