Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending

What is your role at Country Club Bank?

I am a commercial banker for Country Club Bank. My responsibilities include business development, commercial loan origination, portfolio management, SBA Program oversight and community outreach.

Why did you choose banking as a career?

I started in banking over 25 years ago in response to a posting in the want ads for a teller position. I loved banking so much that I made it my personal mission to learn as much as I could, so I could keep moving up. I went back to college, taking classes in the evening and online to earn a finance degree from UMKC while working full-time. Over time, I transitioned from retail to commercial. I cherish my time as a retail banker because I think those lessons enabled me to be a more well-rounded banker.

What drew you to CCB?

Being a community banker is very important to my identity and how I have developed as a banker over the years. Country Club Bank has all the attributes of a community bank that align with my core values. The Thompson family and the management team enable me to deliver a first-class customer experience.

How have you been able to advance your career at CCB?

I joined Country Club Bank at a time when the leadership team was deploying its succession plan. Joe Close asked me to take on the SBA program when Robin Wells retired, and saying "yes" has been both challenging and gratifying. This role gives me the chance to interact with other members of the team outside of my region. It has also allowed me to learn even more, and I love that, especially at this stage in my career.

What advice would you give other Country Club Bank associates about advancing within the bank?

My advice to others is to learn to be graceful and grateful when receiving both compliments and critiques. Don’t be afraid to dream big! Stay focused on your goals but remember to enjoy the journey. Have a genuine respect and appreciation for the extended team who supports what you do.
