There's still time to use your 2021 Volunteer Time Off (VTO) hours for the more than 60 approved nonprofits CCB’s Team Impact supports.
Here are a few that could really use the extra helping hands in December. You can also find this information on the Team Impact Portal!
Toys for Tots - We’ll be sorting donated toys by age and gender from 9 a.m. to noon on December 10 so the Marines can distribute them to less fortunate KC families with children in time for Christmas morning. Sign up by clicking this link!
Community Blood Centers - Sign up today to save a life. You can donate at any Community Blood Center in the metro region as your work schedule allows. Remember, every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. There is an urgent need for blood and platelet donors.
Lead to Read Flextra - Did you know that when you sign up for Lead to Read, you have a variety of options? You can choose to read with a student once a week, partner with a friend or colleague to share a student and alternate sessions, or become a “Flextra,” participating as when a regular reader needs a substitute. The Lead to Read program serves 16 area schools and 58 classrooms. More than 1,100 students are paired with a reading mentor. Volunteers give up about an hour each week, but the impact is far-reaching. Teachers report that as a result of the Lead to Read program, 98% of student attitudes about reading were impacted positively, and 92% report students’ reading abilities had improved. To sign up, or to receive more information on upcoming opportunities, please contact Hayley Rees.
KVC TOY DRIVE - KVC Kansas represents one of the broadest child welfare and behavioral healthcare continuums of care in the nation, helping more than 12,000 children and their families each year through prevention services (family preservation), foster care case management, family reunification services, adoption, outpatient behavioral health and more. From now until December 17, you can drop off new, unwrapped toys, gift cards or clothing at the KVC Kansas office to help support children in foster care this holiday season! KVC is located at 21344 W. 153rd Street, Olathe, KS 66061. For more information on this project, please feel free to contact teamimpact@countryclubbank.com.
Learning Club - The Learning Club provides after-school tutoring to students who reside in low-income housing. For one hour a week, volunteers help students with their homework, read together, or do other educational activities. Tutoring is available on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. All volunteers will need to complete an orientation and background check, have a Covid-19 vaccine and wear a mask during tutoring. For more information, please reach out to teamimpact@countryclubbank.com.
City Union Mission - Toy donations are being accepted for the City Union Mission Christmas store. There are also volunteer opportunities to work the store! As a volunteer at the Christmas Store, you will assist shoppers in the Christmas Store by explaining the shopping guidelines, aid in restocking the Christmas Store, sort donated gifts, assist shoppers to their cars with shopping carts, return carts to the store and monitor shoppers wrapping gifts. Volunteers are being accepted through December 21 from 9 a.m. until noon or from noon-3 p.m. To sign up, please reach out Amy Wilcox.
