The American Bankers Association recently presented Mary O’Connor with its highest individual honor—the George Bailey Distinguished Service Award. The award is presented each year to a non-CEO banker who demonstrates outstanding initiative, effectiveness and inspiration to others. Mary was selected for her community leadership and commitment to helping those in need.
She accepted the award on October 19 at the ABA’s annual convention in Tampa, Florida.
Mary credits her parents with instilling in her and her siblings the belief that “to whom much is given, much is expected.” She strives to give those words meaning through her daily actions, and she is proud that so many Country Club Bank associates also volunteer at and financially support local nonprofits and others in the Kansas City community who need assistance.
In her acceptance remarks, Mary thanked and congratulated “all 450 of my family at Country Club Bank who caringly serve Kansas City every day with excellence.”
