Snag Your Spot for These Volunteer Opportunities

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

These VTO-eligible events benefit community families.

Heroes for Hospice 5K

Want to come out and support a local nonprofit co-founded by CCB's own Jeff Whelan? If so, we are recruiting volunteers to hand out race packets for the organization's Heroes for Hospice 5K Run/Walk on Friday, June 9.

The races on Saturday, June 10, raise awareness and support for hospice and palliative care, specifically benefiting Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care and Midland Care Hospice of Topeka and Lawrence. Since the 2011 inaugural race, Heroes for Hospice has raised and donated a net $188,000 to the two hospice houses. Country Club Bank is a sponsor.

There are two shifts for packet pickup:

  • Noon - 3 p.m.

  • 3 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Please sign up using the button below, which will take you to the Heroes for Hospice portal. Once you've signed up, please reach out to Team Impact to let us know, and we'll be in touch with you as the event nears.

Complimentary Race Entry: We have 10 complimentary 5k entries for the race on June 10. These are first-come, first-served tickets. Use code "ccb2023" and sign up using this link: https://runsignup.com/Race/KS/OverlandPark/HeroesforHospice5KRunWalk

FosterAdopt Connect Office Chair Games

FosterAdopt Connect is hosting its annual Office Chair Games on June 22, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at The LEX, 301 W. 13th Street, Suite 100, Kansas City, Missouri. FosterAdopt Connect partners with foster and adoptive families to help them succeed in as they navigate the challenges of the child welfare system.

Country Club Bank is a sponsor and has a team, but we still need more players! This is VTO eligible for two hours.

Adjust that lumbar support, roll away from the office, and compete in a series of fun games to benefit kids currently and formerly in foster care—all from the comfort of an office chair.

Previous events include:

  • Chair Rowing – Moving as a team around a fixed point and back to the finish line

  • Marathon – Two team members give it their all in a test of endurance and stamina

  • Short Relay – A quick test of speed using the office chair as the baton

  • Chair Curling – One push to see how close your office chair can get to a goal

Last year’s inaugural event raised $51,000.

KC Pet Project

Lend a helping paw with this group VTO opportunity! Get involved at the shelter by helping to improve the mental and physical health of shelter pets by supporting daily care and enrichment needs including tasks such as light landscaping, making enrichment treats, sanitizing transport carriers, helping the Canine Care team, and many other organizational needs. All visits include a tour of our facility where we share our history, our impact on the community (and beyond), how everyone can make a difference in the lives of Kansas City’s animals, and of course: an opportunity to see all of the adorable animals waiting for their new families!

When: June 27, 9 AM - Noon

Where: 7077 Elmwood Ave, Kansas City, MO 64132

*Please note, our groups are not able to walk dogs, or socialize with cats, as this requires further training, but all of our group visits conclude with time spent with one of our adoptable dogs!

Don't Forget to log all of your VTO hours! Did you forget and not sure how to go back? Email Eva Yourtee for assistance. For any questions or potential VTO opportunities you'd like to share, please contact Team Impact.
