Volunteering Is a Work of Heart

CCBers have several opportunities to put their VTO hours to good use in September and October. Sign up—and be a part of something bigger than yourself!

Sleepyhead Beds—Don't Hit Snooze on This Opportunity Sleepyhead Beds holds distribution days once or twice a month to distribute 150-200 beds to Kansas City kids and their families. For each distribution day, five to eight volunteers are needed.

All volunteers must be able to lift and move mattresses (with a partner!) to a client’s vehicle. Some volunteers may be asked to handle data entry, distribute bedding (i.e., pillows, sheets and blankets) or help with other logistics. This VTO is Tuesday, September 27, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 5604 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64110.

Wayside Waifs—Volunteers Are a Special Breed

Group volunteer projects are two hours long. Each opportunity includes a tour of the shelter and a service project. If weather permits, some tasks may take place outside. Two dates are available:

  • September 13, 1-3 p.m.

  • October 4, 2-4 p.m.

Location: 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137

15 spots are available each day—fetch yours by signing up today!

Happy Bottoms KC—The "Butt" Stops Here Happy Bottoms provides 2.7 million diapers annually to children from low-income families in the Kansas City metro area. Volunteers will assist with assembling diaper packages for distribution to area families.

This volunteer opportunity is Thursday, October 6, 1:30-3 p.m. at Happy Bottoms Warehouse, 303 W. 79th Street, Kansas City, MO 64114.
