Fall in Kansas City is a showcase of festivals, fairs and family fun! Here are a few activities you may want to put on your calendar.

American Royal. The annual American Royal activities are back! A variety of events, including the rodeo, livestock and equine showcases and, of course, the world-renowned BBQ contest run throughout the fall. Check the schedule and ticket information here.
Plaza Art Fair. The 90th annual Plaza Art Fair runs Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 26. It encompasses nine city blocks and features 240 artists. Enjoy three live music stages and restaurant booths in addition to the artwork.
The Halloween Haunt at World of Fun opens September 19 and runs through October 30. There’s also a Great Pumpkin Fest for those who want to enjoy some scare-free fun!
Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. You still have time to purchase tickets to this popular international exhibition—it’s been extended through January 2022. The exhibit features more than 700 original artifacts from 20 worldwide institutions, museums and private collections. Reservations are required, and ticket availability is limited.
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art: Art Course. If you didn't get a chance to enjoy the “Art Course” at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, you have about a week left. The Fall session closes September 10.
Art Course is an artist-designed, mini golf experience located in the exquisite Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park. Each hole on this 9-hole course presents a creative interpretation of a work of art in the museum’s collection.
New to Art Course 2021! Test your batting skills with the newest addition to Art Course, “Eyy Putter Putter Swing,” inspired by Radcliffe Bailey’s Mound Magician, designed by Sierra Swift and fabricated by Dimensional Innovations. The new hole is a gift from Bill and Christy Gautreaux in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Negro Leagues and the Kansas City Monarchs.

These are just a few of the crowd pleasers new restaurants around Kansas City are offering up.
Barrio KC is expanding to the Northland. Currently a popular eatery in Brookside and in the Red Bridge Shopping Center, an early 2022 opening is expected for the new location at the Village in Briarcliff. The menu will feature classic favorites as well as burnt end quesadillas, shrimp lettuce wraps and a few other new items.
Blu Hwy has opened in the former Black Dirt space at 5070 Main near the Country Club Plaza. Its menu aspires to take diners on a “culinary road trip” with items such as Southern-style biscuits with honey-chile butter, East Coast corn chowder, lobster bisque and roast chicken. The interior décor focuses on local artwork with road trip themes and pictures of family vacations are displayed in the lobby.
KC Mac N’ Go has launched a macaroni and cheese eatery in the Parlor food hall in the Crossroads. A sampling of their menu reveals Honey Serrano Mac, Cowboy Mac and Chick N’ Waffle Mac.
Keisha Kandi Apples at 809 West 39th Street offers uniquely flavored candied apples (caramel, Oreo, pear and more) and cheesecakes in a jar (strawberry, apple pie, banana pudding, among others). She also offers cookies and cobblers.
Nektar Juice Bar, serving cold-pressed juices, smoothies and acai bowls will be opening a third location soon, this one in the new Prairie Village Corinth Quarter.
Our House KC at 1815 West 39th Street features smoked meats, including pulled pork, chicken salad and burnt end French dip sandwiches.
Shagan’s is dishing up Northern India cuisine from the counter it opened inside the Midtown Market at 3967 Main Street.
Taste Island Grill has opened at 3605 Broadway. A new concept introduced by the owners of Mesob Restaurant & Rhum Bar, among the bowls it features is Reggae Vibs with jerk chicken. It also offers jerk tilapia, jerk chicken, grilled steak and pork shoulder tacos as well as jumbo whole wings.
The Hungry Hatch at 23 East 3rd Street in Kansas City focuses on offering healthy eating options such as bowls, wraps and salads.
