Jason Sudeikis, a Kansas City area native who recently won an Emmy for his portrayal of the titular character on the streaming series “Ted Lasso,” may not be the only Kansas Citian who can claim bragging rights for the award.
Sydney White, a news producer for KMBC, was part of a morning crew that has been Emmy-nominated for coverage of the November 2020 election results.
Sydney is the daughter of CCB Regional Financial Center Manager Kimberly Thornton.
News Emmy’s are broken down by market and by chapter. KMBC is part of the Mid-America chapter, which consists of news stations from throughout Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana. Sydney and her team are competing with a news team from St. Louis for their coverage of snow and bitter cold weather as well as another team from KMBC for their reporting on snow and the Super Bowl.
The virtual gala will be held October 23. Sydney, who is now producing her own show for KMBC’s noon news hour, is hoping she and her team will bring home a win!
